21 Week Check In

What an exciting few weeks! I know I already wrote about the ultrasound but I still think about it all the time.

Last weekend, our nursery furniture construction was completed!  James and his brother, Thomas, put together the crib over the holidays. Then last weekend my dad came over and he and James got to work!

They worked on the dresser which we knew would be tough.  Good job guys!

After Dad left, James was still on a roll. He knocked out the dresser all by himself.  It was as if all of his Lego projects were leading up to this moment:

When I fell in love with our furniture from IKEA I thought that it would be a challenge to assemble.  I am so lucky to have a husband that loves putting things together and such good helpers!

And now for the questions:

How far along? 21 Weeks

How big is baby? As long as a carrot!

Maternity clothes?  Mostly yes.  A lot of my old dresses still fit, though they may look a little funny.

Sleep: I still like sleep.

Best moment this week:  Last week we saw the ultrasound, I am still on cloud 9 from that J

Movement: A lot more movement—it feels like popcorn popping inside my stomach

Food cravings: No really

Food Aversions: Not at this point

Gender:  ???

Pregnancy Symptoms:  heart burn!  Also a little morning sickness this week.  Weird, right?

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss:  I’m all good right now.

What I am looking forward to: Picking out a paint color (I’m looking forward to getting that over with.  That’s tough stuff for an indecisive person!)

Upcoming appointments/events:  Pretty chill week ahead!  My friends are throwing a baby shower for me in March and I am already looking forward to it!

Weekly Wisdom: Hmm.  Maybe I’ll delete this question.  I never have any wisdom.

Milestones:  Nursery furniture construction complete!  Good job James, Thomas and Dad!!

It's A.... Baby!

What a day!  Our big 20-week ultrasound was this morning, and I must say... it was AWESOME.

Baby Gilbert was very cooperative.  The technician says he or she is a showoff!  We got lots of great profile and face pictures.

We are in love!

Baby loves to keep hands by the face.  And check out those lips!

My favorite part was when Baby G let out a few yawns.  It was so cute seeing that little mouth open!

It was really tempting to find out the gender, but we both held out for a big surprise on delivery day.

Here's a shot of we took goofing around waiting on the doctor afterward.

A big shoutout to Olivia for letting me borrow the dress (along with lots of other maternity clothes!).  More on clothes and baby-gender-surprise-decision in future blog.  James is waiting patiently for the computer so he can work on his comic.  Yes, he's writing a mini-comic for a local anthology! How cool is that?

My First ETSY Purchase

Let me start by telling you about our nursery!  Since we are planning on NOT know our baby's gender, I knew it would be important to me to pick out a gender-neutral nursery look that I really liked.  Actually, one of the first sets that I found ended up being the winner!  My sweet momma bought us the set for Christmas and I can't wait to get it all set up.

Here is a little preview:

A few days ago on ETSY, I found a few more accessories that match the set.  I was very excited!  I purchased the lamp, a switch plate and a night light (all handmade).  Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Note: I asked for a non-brown trim, so pretend it is blue or green! Can't wait to see them once they arrive.

In other news, I am feeling more flutters lately!

Okay, that's all for now!

Bloggin' It Up!

Many of my friends have documented their pregnancies and baby-life via blogs and I have always appreciated it.  I love being in the loop on all of the little details.  I’ve decided to start a blog as well-- I hope you enjoy it!  I think it will be nice to look back one day and remember everything that I was thinking and feeling.

On October 6th James and I found out our exciting news.  I remember the exact date since that is the day that Carolina dominated UGA.

James was a good sport and went to RiteAid to buy more tests (because one is never enough, right?) and then we floated through the rest of the weekend on cloud nine. Sidenote: Ask James to tell you that story from his perspective;)

At first we planned to wait until after our first doctor’s appointment to share the news with our families.  After we discovered we had to wait two weeks, we quickly changed or minds.

I’ve really enjoyed being able to share the news with all of our family, friends and coworkers.  It was one of the hardest secrets to keep!  I’m really looking forward to the weeks and months ahead and I hope that if anyone reads this, they will share in our excitement!

Here's a little pic that makes me happy:

I found these questions on a pregnancy site, so I think I’ll stick to them for a lot of updates.  I think it will be fun to look back at all of this one day.  I’m definitely not a scrapbook girl, so this blog may be all that I have!

How far along? 19 Weeks

How big is baby? Apparently, the size of a mango

Maternity clothes?  Some of my regular dresses still fit, but I am all maternity pants now.

Sleep: I’m normally a BACK sleeper, but the books discourage that.  I sometimes struggle to get comfortable on my side.

Best moment this week:  Feeling little flutters for the first time!

Movement: I have felt a little tiny flutter once or twice.  I hope to fill more soon!

Food cravings: I wouldn’t call it a craving, but I have been on a clementine kick.

Food Aversions: Not at this point

Gender: ??

Pregnancy Symptoms:  a little bit of stretching pains

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Diet Coke, especially this week

What I am looking forward to: Getting started on the nursery

Upcoming appointments/events:  The BIG ultrasound is next week.  Can’t wait!

Weekly Wisdom: I’m not feeling particularly wise this week.

Milestones:  The belly definitely popped the last week or so
