My little monkey—
The last few months have been absolutely wonderful. We actually have little conversations now, which is the coolest thing I’ve ever experienced. You are definitely a parrot, but you also have your own thoughts and put words together by yourself.
You refer to yourself in the third person, and we all think it is adorable. Last night, we were playing outside, and when climbing up the stairs you said, “ Cay-ful, Dosta.” (Careful, Doster).
You also say things like:
- Doster’s Room
- Doster’s Noodle
- Doster Diaper
- That’s it, Doster (when you are out of something, like a snack).
You know your last name too, which is so cute!
When you first meet new people or are in a new place, you can be very shy and quiet. I can’t blame you—a bunch of weird grownups all talking in baby voices must seem pretty weird to a toddler. When you are around people that you’re comfortable with, the real talking happens.
We’ve done so much over the last few months—I’ll just fill in with some pictures.
Lots of playdates over the last few months... |
You love seeing your buddies! |
We're always game for an Edventure meet-up! |
Valentine's Day Cuties! |
I love that the other class moms snap these and send them around. We are so lucky to have a great group of babies and parents! |
I was lucky enough to have a girls trip to Vegas to celebrate Aunt Leslie's bachelorette party! Luckily I got back in time to enjoy a beautiful day with you at the zoo! |
Taking advantage of that zoo membership with another trip! |
Probably the cutest picture I've ever taken. |
EdVenture again! Hey Grammy! |
Bros |
You love selfies. |

Other Favorites:

Shows: Yo Gabba Gabba, Daniel Tiger – especially the episode with the truck song at the end.
Foods: Avocado, oatmeal, applesauce, rice, grits
Toys: Trucks, cars, things with wheels!
Dislikes
- Bedtime
- School dropoff (much improved though!)
- Getting out of bed in the morning (it’s a long process—you just loving chatting and laying around with your “friends”).
Paci Talk
A few months ago I toyed with the idea of taking your paci away. I tried one night for a few hours but I totally caved in. You SCREAMED for three hours and my heart was breaking. You only get your paci at bedtime and I just don’t feel mentally prepared to go there yet.
I’m thinking about “leaving it in Florida” during our trip this week and seeing how you do with that…
We’ll see…
Brag Board
With two school-teacher grandmas, there is a lot of one-on-one time devoted to learning that happens at our house! Plus, you learn so much from the awesome teachers in your class, and from your friends at school.
You have your colors down pat and you like learning new colors too. We just learned gray this week.
You know a handful of letters and your favorite is X!
“Upside down” is your favorite concept right now. It cracks you up when we turn our refrigerator letter magnets upside down, and you request this constantly. “M upsi down? Dubba-you upsi down?”
Random Things I Want To Remember
When you run from one room to another you talk to yourself saying, “Huwwy huwwy.”
I woke you up this morning and you had two of your friends in your hands. You pushed them both together and said, “Hug.”
We have a little green bathmat that is your “time-out mat.” You are usually only sentenced for hitting and throwing your bowl. We put Daddy in time out on Sunday and you loved it!
I have no clue where you learned this, but if we ask you if you are a baby or a big boy, you say "toddla."
My Doster,
Thanks for being such a sweet, easy baby. Seeing you smile makes me so happy. You fill up our lives with such joy!
I'll be sure to do a whole blog devoted to our Florida trip next!

Best post yet! Doster is a whiz kid-so smart! Love all his phrases and cute things he does. What a handsome dude. Hope we can play soon!
